Greek Hellenistic Ceramics in the Archaeological Museum in Split
Ten years ago a famous bronze sculpture of Apoxiomenos was found in Lošinj aquatorium, a supreme work of art from the ancient Greek period. Guest exhibition of the Archaeological Museum in Split presents over a hundred complete ceramic dishes, painted or embellished with relieves, belonging to the period from the middle of the 4th century to the end of the 1st entury BC. Great part was found at the Martvilo locality near the city of Vis, the site of Necropolis of the oldest Greek colony in the eastern Adriatic – ancient Issa.
