PETER TOMSCHICZEK (GERMANY) – EXPOSITION OF PAINTINGS
The Fritzy Gallery within the Lošinj Museum proudly presents an exhibition of selected artworks by renowned German painter Peter Tomschiczek which opens on May 13, 2010 at 8 p.m.
Peter Tomschiczek was born 70 years ago in Iglau (now Jihlava) in the Czech Republic. He has been a freelance artist from 1963 when he graduated from the Asademy of Fine Arts in Nürnberg under professors Griebel and Itten. For the past 40 years he has lived between Bad Aibling (Bavaria) – island of Lošinj, finding inspiration for his abstract paintings in peace and tranquillity of Sv. Jakov. Complete series of paintings is dedicated thematically to barren and rocky island landscape, from “Gatterwegbilder” (Paintings of the paths with wooden latticed gates) and “Bilder vom meer” (Paintings of the sea) in combined technique to the series of gouache paintings “Im Karst”(In karst).
He has exhibited in over a hundred individual and group exhibitions across Germany and Europe. Works of this distinguished and multiple award-winning artist have entered the funds of numerous significant museum and gallery collections in Germany; they can be seen in representative premises of ministries and county and town administration, in bank headquarters and public institutions.
He has been a member of various art associations, and since 2002 he has been a lecturer at the Reichenhaller Academy. Next year, 2011, Rosenheim will host a great retrospective exhibition of his works.
Although Tomschiczek spends the part of year in his house in Sv. Jakov for decades, he has remained unknown to the wide public in Lošinj and Croatia. This exhibition will therefore represent the fist encounter with his layered abstractions and refined colourism. Energy and dynamism which large size canvases radiate have enchanted the German public, so we believe the Lošinj public will feel the same as well.
The exhibition remains open until June 12, 2010.
