Maja Arčanin
GARDENS OF DREAM
03. 07. – 13. 07. 2006.
The poetry of objects in the interior, gradually transformed to an independent symbol, is a characteristic of Maja Arčanin's works. This simple statement hides the differences of Maja's claim on one hand, and designates the connection on the other. (...) The vegetation forms have airy surfaces, almost of the water-colour quality, with the light-embossed contours which are interwined by the totality of the scene. The poetic connotations are also visible in the atmosphere of the scene, with an easiness-insinuated objecttivity. Gigantisation of leaves and flowers supports the form shimmer emphasised by colour sophistication. The area is filled with a range of scaled values of quiet sounds and nurtured tone, and on it the traces of white have a role in the expressiveness of the painting, subdued, of subtle atmosphere, brought to the impression of ceremony, the insinuation of the mataphysical through slightly denied reality, regardless the accentuating a vase, table, window. The protected ambiances of beauty are created, where objects lose the porosity of the epidermis, becoming a glow by the colour of the cumulated light. Decorativity, seen in element's relation, is a patr of the painting scenario, according to which the surface and clarity of colour give a realistic style. (...) The regularity of order and rhythm can be seen in the ornaisation of the painting's area, while the sole forms with their details have mild geometry – the outcomes of the organic.(...) The shapes of the soft drawings are interpreted as the conception of triangles, displaced circle, sovereignity of a line and the like, applied as well in the polyptychal compositions on the areas of changed colour fundus. Their flourishing in the asigned areas openes a possibility for variations – the continuous revitalizing of the visualised energy through the picture of the given continuity of life.
