Every year, the increasing construction of new facilities and upgrading of the existing ones as also the expansion of urban areas partially or completely destroy archaeological and cultural -historical heritage in the Cres-Lošinj archipelago, including forts as part of a coastal defence of the islands, majority being under the control of Navy forces or local military defence. The purpose of the exhibition and the catalogue is to meet the general public with the current situation on the ground and also to point out the importance of the forts to local area, the island´s history and thus indirectly to try to protect them against oblivion and damage due to new construction.
