In this second project in a r;ow in which the Cres Museum collaborates with Dr. Damir Kovač, we present fis collection of old maps. Represented in this collection aree maps produced in the period from the 16th to the 19th centuries, and, if we also include the sources on whic they were based, then we must say that they represent the world from the times of the Roman Empire to Austria-Hungary. In addition to this large historical span, one should have in mind that they were printed in various cartographic centers - in Netherlands, Italy, Germany - and that they were crafted by masters who had different information, technical knowledge and approaches. And yet without having any knowledge of cartography, we can easily track how the depictions become increasingly more precise and accurate, and enjoy their beauty at the same time.
