Narcisa Adalgisa Škopac
LANDSCAPES OF THE SOUL BY NARCISA ADALGISA ŠKOPAC
Narcisa Adalgisa Škopac paints and exhibits indefatigably. Always and repeatedly fascinated with colours and forms of her native Istria, she transfers a whirlwind of experienced emotions onto canvas, creating distinctive compositions with a fairy-tale atmosphere.
Putting together a collage of painted surfaces, as well as playing with colouristic perspective and a hierarchy of meaning, make her painting close to children's world, the world of utter and sincere playfulness. Moved by long strokes of the brush, trees and houses dance to the rhythm of contrastic, often complementary colours. Tops of trees, in the shape of a heart, leaf or a circle, tightened in clearly defined contours and animated through relation between colour and light, grow irrepressibly into space as life itself. Silent presence of houses and cottages create timelessness of dreams and chidhood, where everything is possible and everything makes sense.
Istrian landscapes present only a starting point, something real and substantial which has been transformed, through Narcisa's creative expression, into pure emotion and landscape of the soul.
